I Never Read Books other than my text books until my last year in high-school

One day I was in a conversation with my chemistry teacher. He told me the how important it is to be well read. I told him that I read all of the chapters in the text books and he asked me what other books do you read and I had no answer. He was my favorite teacher, so I asked him to tell me more and he said get started with reading various books other than the text books.

See what kind of books you enjoy reading and make it an important part of your life. I’m glad that we had that conversation and that I took what he had to say to my heart. Reading has become integral part of who I am much so that I feel I don’t have enough time to read all the books that I want to read. Every year, I end up buying more books than I can read. Yogi and I love collecting books.

While I was setting my goals for 2017, I decided to commit to reading few books this year.

Here is the list of the 5 books I picked and why I chose them…

1) Benjamin Franklin: An American Life by Walter Isaacson

I love reading Biographies and Autobiographies and getting to know all about the person, their life path, what fascinated them, why did they make certain choices in their life and how it shaped their life and everything in between… There is so much to be learnt from these in-depth life biographies and autobiographies. They teach you what to do and what not to do or gives you the strength and courage to keep on going…Life Stories are my Favorites!!

I chose this book in particularly because Mr. Narendra Modi, India’s current Prime Minister had recommended it in one of his speech at a high-school event way before he became the Prime Minister. He had spoken very highly of Mr. Benjamin and that there is a lot to be learnt from his life. When I heard that, I had decided that I’ll definitely read it and this year is the perfect time for reading it and absorbing myself in it.

2) The War of Art – Steven Pressfield

I’ve heard a lot about this book from someone I consider as my mentor, Marie Forleo. She recommended this book a while ago on her show and also mentioned that she re-reads this book every year..its that good. I can’t wait to find out what’s instored for me in this book.

3) Love Letter to The Earth – Thich Nhat Hanh

I had purchased this book almost 1.5 years ago and never got to read it. The title had captured my attention. This year with my increasing interest in healing, light body, law of attraction, Akashic Records work and becoming a mother myself, I have a more deeper love, respect and appreciation for mother Earth.

Reading this book will certainly amplify my love, respect and appreciation for mother Earth and take it to the next level.

4) Ask and It’s Given – Esther and Jerry Hicks

I love this book and will be going deeper into its teachings. It’s a recommended reading in my current certification program. It has wealth of knowledge. And I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to create miracles in their life or their business.

5) Abundance Now – Lisa Nichols

I love Lisa Nichols and on a recent group call with her organized by one of my dear mentor and coach…Lisa told everyone on the call to read and apply the knowledge in this book as she has shared everything she did to get to where she is today in her life and her business.

Her life is very inspiring and I can’t wait to read all about it and applying what she has to share.

Hope you loved my list and the reasons why I’m committing to read them this year. I will share my insights on each when I am done reading them.

I’d love to hear what books you plan on reading and if you have more recommendations for me. Comment below and let me know!
